University of Malaya’s continuous and persistent crusade towards excellence has seen the local university finally join the ranks of the top 100 universities in the world, with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) released their highly anticipated 2019 edition of their World University Rankings.Having ranked 114th last year, UM finally breached the mythical barrier that it had set its sights on, with UKM and UPM the next two best ranking Malaysian representatives at the 184 and 202 positions respectively. The remaining two members of Malaysia’s Fab Five rounded up the top 5, with USM placing 207th and UTM a few spots behind in the 228th position.
On the private university front, UCSI University emerged as Malaysia’s top university in what is the institution's incredibly impressive first year on the list, placing joint 481st. Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) (521-530), Taylor’s University (601-650), UNITEN (701-750) and MMU (801-1000) all ranked as well, with Malaysia producing a total of 13 representatives in the prestigious rankings.
