Since its establishment in 1995, Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare College (RSDH College) has been regarded as one of the pioneers in healthcare education in Malaysia. Like any hospitality service provider, there are specific skills required to care for and tend to patients in healthcare institutions.
With doctor usually being the first profession to come to mind at the mention of a career in healthcare, it is easy to overlook other equally important professions in the healthcare industry and why they are in greater demand than ever.
RSDH College specialises in nursing and allied health sciences programmes. With over 20 years of experience in healthcare education, the faculty and staff at RSDHC are evidently well equipped with the practical knowledge and skills to nurture competent and industry-ready graduates.
RSDH College has received 6 Stars (Outstanding) rating in the MyQuest 2016/2017, awarded by the Ministry of Higher Education.
The college is best known for its nursing and health sciences programmes. Offering a three-year Diploma in Nursing programme as well as a BSc (Hons) Contemporary Nursing 2+0 programme, the college aims to cultivate highly skilled nurses who are confident and customer-focused.
The 2+0 BSc (Hons) programme familiarises students with relevant nursing practices lecturers from the University of Hertfordshire. The nursing programme is designed to develop critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills in students.
Another popular programme offered by the college is the three-year Diploma in Medical Assistant, aimed at producing assistant medical officers who will go on to work closely alongside doctors and medical officers in hospitals.
Students are trained in the areas of basic medical sciences by experiencing learning in the classroom, practical sessions and hands-on activities combined with self-directed learning. They undergo clinical placements to enhance clinical knowledge and competencies as well as medical, surgical and emergency skills.
With 95% of its graduates employed or furthering studies upon graduation, individuals who successfully complete their studies at RSDHC can confidently face the healthcare industry.
The college emphasises hands-on practice and provides students with clinical placements in the Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care Group of Hospitals as well as other reputable, accredited government and private hospitals such as Kajang Hospital, Tanjung Karang Hospital, Putrajaya Hospital and Tun Hussein Onn National Eye Hospital.
