Have you considered the possibility of a degree from the prestigious University of London in a local institution?
Students looking for the internationally known degree but can’t afford to move overseas need not look further.
HELP has long offered the University of London International Programmes for students intending to pursue a university education away from the University of London campus. HELP Academy is an Affiliate Centre of the programme, in collaboration with the London School of Economics (LSE), and it offers the same academic resources as well as access to study materials from the university. This also means that students are able to graduate with a foundation and degree from the University of London with academic direction from London School of Economics.
Afterschool talks to the University of London Head of Department at HELP Academy, Baldev Sidhu, to find out more about this programme.
The University of London International Programme is a prestigious programme developed by academics at London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE). According to Mr Baldev, the programme “ensures students acquire high academic standard and develop intellectual curiosity throughout their study”.
He adds that the programme “provides students an exciting pathway to studying bachelor degrees delivered through the University of London International Programmes.”
As the Affiliate Centre, the department currently offers four LSE-led degree programmes, namely BSc Accounting & Finance, BSc Economics & Management, BSc Economics and BSc Banking & Finance.
Mr Baldev believes that the programme offers students the opportunity to develop their skills even beyond the classroom. “These courses nurture and emphasise critical thinking and problem solving among students, and prepares them for undergraduate study at university.” It offers a smoother transition from the exam-focussed learning in schools towards a more independent learning in university.
He shares with us the advantages of the University of London programme in collaboration with the London School of Economics (LSE).
Studying at HELP offers students a more affordable education than studying abroad, while having an international degree.
The programme has the academic content and direction of the University of London in collaboration with the London School of Economics (LSE). Mr Baldev describes that this programme is “designed to cultivate a sense of challenge and pride for students.”
The degree is highly sought after by global employers in diverse occupational fields. In addition, Mr Baldev adds that, “It is widely recognized in the region. It is also iconic and opens opportunities for employment.”
Students will be given full access to the University of London’s library resources, study and learning aids, samples of past examination questions, and other study materials.
The HELP Academy has 29 years of experience in running the University of London International Programmes. Since 1986, it has grown to be an Affiliate Centre of the University of London. “This means that HELP provides the tuition and support for three years of the programme, while all materials and examinations are set and graded in the UK,” Mr Baldev explains.
Since its inception, HELP has earned several achievements as Affiliate Centre and has produced numerous successes through its batches of students. HELP’s University of London graduates have won scholarships for Masters and PhD degrees at Oxford, Cambridge, Chicago, Wharton School of Business and the LSE, as well as obtained the largest number of BSc First Class Honours degrees from the University of London LSE-led degrees among overseas institutions.
“We are proud of the ways in which we can help guide students towards their goals,” Mr Baldev says. “Ultimately, the successes are in the quality rather than quantity, and we hope to continue to build and achieve that with our students.”
HELP will begin running three new programmes in March with the Royal Holloway, University of London. For more information about the programmes, visitthe Department of the University of London International Programmes at HELP Academy and the University of London page.
