Dr Show Pau Loke, an academic at The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus wins the Young Chemical Engineer in Research Award.
Held at the at The Institution of Chemical Engineers’ (IChemE) Global Awards, the award was presented during its 10th anniversary celebration.
“I am deeply humbled and pleased to receive this prestigious award today as this is a milestone in my career as a researcher, especially when the other nominees are key leaders in the industry,” Dr Show said at the awards ceremony.
The research award ceremony was graced by the Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, who is an alumna of The University of Nottingham.
Dr Show is an Associate Professor at UNMC and holds a PhD in bioprocess engineering. His research is specifically in bioseparation engineering, which deals with the scientific and engineering principles involved in large-scale separation and purification of biological products.
He has published two book chapters, more than 33 research journal papers, presented five research papers at international conferences and obtained a patent. He is serving on the international scientific committees of international conference, including the Environmental Research Colloquium for 2013, 2015 and 2017, 22nd International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering (CHISA 2016), 19th Conference on Process Integration, Modelling and Optimisation for Energy Saving and Pollution Reduction (PRES 2016) and 22nd International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering (CHISA 2016).
He is the primary researcher for 12 grants projects, and reviews for 50 peer-reviewed journals.
His excellent research performance won him the Platinum Research Award in 2013, 2014 and 2015 from the University of Nottingham’s Research Division.
“The awards our academics win reflect the University of Nottingham’s deep commitment to pursuing excellence in research and we are very proud of Pau Loke on his achievement,” said Professor Claire O’Malley, Vice-Provost (Research and Knowledge Exchange) at UNMC.
“Research also drives our teaching curricula, to contribute to capacity but also to develop the next generation of global citizens and leaders. Our students, at the undergraduate, masters and PhD level are taught and supervised by staff who are world-leading in their disciplines and research,” Professor O’Malley said.
