Two TAR UC students excelled nationally and globally having scored outstanding results in the September 2020 ACCA examination.
Achieving Second Top ACCA Affiliate in Malaysia was a cause for celebration for Caroline Ng Yi-Wye, a recent Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) graduate. Earlier this year, she took the world by storm when she became the first Malaysian to rank Top in the World for the Strategic Business Leader (‘SBL’) paper in the December 2019 ACCA examinations.
“I was quite shocked and rechecked my email a few times just to make sure I was not imagining things. But I was really happy and thankful after the initial shock had worn off,” she shared. “My ACCA achievements mark a fulfilling ending to this chapter of my life. I’m glad and proud that my hard work and perseverance during my 4 years at TAR UC has paid off.”
Also taken by surprise was Hew Ting Yi, a Year 4 Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) student who took the honour of being Top in Malaysia (3rd in the world) for Strategic Business Reporting (‘SBR’) paper.
“It took me a while to let this wonderful news sink in! This achievement really means a lot to me as I took more than 6 months preparing for it. Words cannot describe this sense of achievement but it has definitely given me more confidence as I move forward to complete my remaining papers.”
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ACCA had cancelled the June 2020 examinations in Malaysia, delaying both Caroline and Ting Yi’s plans to sit for the ACCA examinations to the September sitting. Nonetheless, they remained optimistic and made the best of the situation.
“My lecturers were still able to teach the syllabus quite clearly through online learning platforms when classes were conducted fully online as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak. There were definitely some changes but it was manageable,” shared Ting Yi. “Before my exam I was actually doing my internship. So I had to manage my time well and balance between work and studies. The delay gave me extra time to prepare myself.”
To date, TAR UC students have won 80 world prizes and 102 national prizes in the ACCA examinations.
