SHAH ALAM, 16 APRIL 2020: Management and Science University (MSU) joins forty-eight laboratories running clinical tests for Covid-19 infection nationwide.
According to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM), Malaysia’s testing capacity for the Covid-19 infection which currently stands at 11,500 samples daily.
The nation’s Covid-19 testing centres comprise KKM’s, MOSTI’s (the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation), the Malaysian Army’s, privately owned, and higher education institution laboratories.
Working hand in hand with trained medical and healthcare personnel at MSU’s Diagnostics and Research Laboratory are the University’s teams of researchers and experts of molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, pharmacokinetics, medicine, tissue culture, oncology, bioinformatics, nutrition, and public health, as well as occupational safety and health.
Prototypes are being jointly developed by MSU’s Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE), Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS), and School of Pharmacy (SPH), to assist Covid-19 detection and diagnosis via smart helmet and smart UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) technologies.
The targeted real-time-surveillance imaging capability of the smart helmet and smart drone uses an award-winning technology by a team of researchers from MSU’s Centre of Cyber Security and Big Data (CCSBD). The multiplex software solution had bagged gold for MSU at the Malaysia Technology Expo.
Playing an equally important part is the caring, healing, educating MSU Medical Centre (MSUMC) Specialist Hospital with its MSUMC drive-through Covid-19 private testing for the public.
