The Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) World Championship is a prestigious global competition attended by tens of thousands of designers from around the world annually. It tests the skills of students in using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
This year's competition attracted some 230,000 designers from around the world where more than 30 finalists met to compete in Orlando, Florida for the title.
A young Malaysian by the name of Nicholas Ng Hwa Ee is a 22-year-old student who became the silver medallist in this intense competition. Competitors were given a design challenge and eight hours to complete it using Adobe design tools.
Some of the major benefits for participants competing in this event are showcasing design skills demanded in the global market, competency and career preparedness, and attracting potential employers.
First, second and third place winners were selected based on design scores and received an award of US$5,000, US$2,500, and US$1,000, respectively.
First place went to Lourdes Gimena Anquiano Bermúdez from Mexico and third place went to Cheung Kuok Pan from Macau.
According to his Facebook page, Nicholas attended FZD School of design, and Tunku Abdul Rahman University College. His high school education was at SMK Danau Kota here in Kuala Lumpur.
This year has seen a number of Malaysian winners, most recently from the Olympics 2016 in Rio where 8 Malaysians made the country proud with 4 silver medals and a bronze medal in Badminton, Diving and Cycling.
This series of achievements reflect a great image of Malaysia and shows the world that this nation has unlimited talent yet to be fully utilised.
