With just over 3,000 schools in England, 2,179 qualified for the FT ranking. Out of a total of 2,179 schools listed Bellerbys Brighton ranks an impressive 29th with Bellerbys Cambridge holding its position at 47th, ahead of many prestigious and well known schools including Brighton College (49th), Abbey College Cambridge (59th), Charterhouse (81st), and Roedean (136th) to name just a few.The criteria for inclusion in the rankings were at least 20 students registered for A-levels in 2011, with an average of two or more exam entries per candidate, and an average of at least one core subject per candidate. The ranking itself is based on The Good Schools Guide research, using two measurements to rank the schools: the points per candidate and points per entry, in terms of core subjects only.
Nigel Addison Principal of Bellerbys Brighton commented, ‘Bellerbys Brighton's position of 29th, ahead of Cambridge Tutors, Abbey Cambridge and Brighton College, illustrates the benefits and importance of highly qualified teachers with years and years of experience, combined with small classes.’
Year on year Bellerbys College produces outstanding results. In 2012, over the 4 Bellerbys colleges, 50% of successful A Level students graduated to the top 15 universities. 57% of all A levels were graded A* or A, which is twice the national average.
John Rushton, Principal at Bellerbys Cambridge was delighted with the results and remarked that, ‘at Bellerbys College we have dedicated and experienced teachers who know how to get the best from all their students.’
