Among only 18 universities around the world to achieve this prestigious rating
In the latest QS Stars University Ratings officially announced at the QS Apple Conference on November 1, 2021, Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) attained a QS 5 Stars Plus university rating – the first and only in Malaysia!. Only 18 universities from around the world have achieved this rating. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), UK, is the world’s leading provider of services, analytics, and insights to the global higher education sector.
In the methodology used by QS Stars, universities are awarded an overall Star result which ranges from 0 to 5+ Stars after the assessment, depending on the number of points achieved through the evaluation. A 5 Stars Plus institution must achieve five stars across all categories in addition to achieving the minimum highest benchmark score by the QS Stars rating system. The system evaluates universities across a wide range of key performance indicators against established international standards and benchmarks.
APU earned five-star ratings in all nine categories, namely – Teaching, Employability, Internationalisation, Academic Development, Facilities, Social Responsibility, Inclusiveness, Specialist criteria – Accounting & Finance, Online Learning, the maximum number possible! The criteria for these categories are aimed at providing higher learning institutions with an opportunity to stand out in their particular areas of excellence.
According to Leigh Kamolins, Head of Evaluation, QS Intelligence Unit, "The QS Stars university rating system audits and rates over 600 universities globally in a broader range of criteria than any world ranking exercise. Comprehensive audits are also independently carried out as part of the rating exercise. QS Stars™ shines a light on both the excellence and the diversity of the rated institution. Congratulations to Asia Pacific University (APU) for being the first-ever QS 5-Stars Plus rated institution in Malaysia and being 1 amongst 18 in the world."
Commenting on this stellar achievement, Datuk Parmjit Singh, CEO, APIIT Education Group said, “This is a testimony of APU’s strengths in various facets, especially an environment that provides a truly rewarding student experience. It is a reflection of our commitment right from inception to produce highly employable and future-proof professionals. Kudos to my APU colleagues and our Student community from over 130 countries and to the QS Stars team for honouring us with this very exclusive accolade.”
“This is a clear indicator of APU’s strengths and performance as an institution based on global benchmarks. We are gratified and honoured by this achievement which reflects our elevated standing among institutions worldwide,” said Dr. Hari Narayanan, APU Vice-Chancellor.
Awarded the Premier Digital Tech University status by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), APU is amongst Malaysia’s Premier Private Universities, transforming students into highly competent and employable professionals with a unique fusion of technology, innovation and creativity. According to the latest Annual Graduate Tracer Study by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia,100% of APU graduates were employed by Graduation.
