There is so much for one to experience in a university, apart from attaining education. Its a place that allows you to grow to your full potential, enhance your intrapersonal skills as well as making connections with others.
However, not everyone can afford higher education. While some can afford private education, those from middle class families often rely on scholarships or even partial scholarships and loans. Unfortunately, those from underprivileged families are often left behind. Higher education has become a luxury that is not available for everyone.
If you think that university fee in Malaysia is expensive and unreasonable, check out the 7 most expensive universities in the world.
7. University College London (UCL)

£9,250 (RM52,772) for undergraduate studies
£11,170 - £22,010 (RM63,726-RM125,570) for postgraduate studies
UCL is the very first university that allowed admission for individuals of every religion. It is also the first university that allowed admission of women. The acceptance rate is high which is 63% even though it ranked #10 in the QS World University Ranking. To this day, UCL is a university that has contributed immensely to the world of research especially with its discovery of noble gases and more.
6. University of Cambridge
£9250 (RM52,433) for undergraduate studies
£8,337-£16,320 (RM47,257-RM92,509) for postgraduate studies
University of Cambridge, by far, has the most beautiful old buildings, picturesque streets and greenery that is a popular tourist attraction. This university is also popular and ranked best in the world for courses like anatomy, archaeology and English literature. Its acceptance rate is higher than its rival, the Oxford University which is 21% and it is has a slightly cheaper tuition fee than university of Oxford. Various scholarships are offered for international students but it is limited.
5. University of Oxford
£7,970-£13,075 (RM45,177- RM74,115) for postgraduate studies
The University of Oxford is one of the oldest universities in the world, and sure enough the oldest in United Kingdom. The acceptance rate is 18% yet it isn't easy to get admission into this reputable university. It has successfully established its fame in the academic realm and as one would expect, it has been ranked #1 in the world for many popular courses including medicine.
4. California Institute of Technology
$54,570 (RM225,646) for undergraduate studies
$52.506 (RM217,112) for postgraduate studies
California Institute of Technology is renowned for its Science and Engineering programme. 3. Harvard University

Who hasn’t heard of Harvard? Harvard university has successfully gained recognition from all around the world. Everyone knows Harvard and you have to be outstanding to be a Harvard student. Its acceptance rate is 4.6% which is fairly low. Almost 90% applicants will be rejected. Nonetheless, it offers a need-blind admission to both local and international students. So, if you are an international student who needs financial support to study in Stanford, it is certainly going to be tough to secure a spot there.
1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology
$55,450 (RM228,758) for undergraduate studies
$53,450 (RM220,507) for postgraduate studies
The MIT university is considered to be the most prestigious university in the world. It is a university that focuses on the development of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. There’s your chance! With prestige comes high fee. MIT is not only maintaining its ranking as the top university in the QS World University Rankings, it also remains as the most expensive university in the world.
So, do you have your eyes set on any of these first class universities? Does prestige justify the price? If you think that the price is worth the experience and education, you are right! With an outstanding result and a scholarship, you might be able to secure a seat there.
